    Freedom Park in Pretoria is offering free entry to learners at its //Hapo Museum from 19 to 25 May 2025. This special initiative celebrates International Museum Day, which falls on 18 May, and encourages young visitors to explore South Africa’s rich heritage in an engaging environment.

    What to Expect at the //Hapo Museum

    The //hapo Museum, located within Freedom Park, provides a unique space for learners to connect with the country’s history, cultures, and liberation struggles. Visitors can explore interactive exhibits that inspire reflection and understanding. The museum is open daily from 08:30 to 16:30, allowing ample time for school groups and families to visit during the free-entry week.

    Why Visit Freedom Park?

    Freedom Park is a heritage site dedicated to remembering and celebrating South Africa’s diverse cultures and history. It honours the sacrifices made for liberation and social justice. The park offers educational experiences that foster appreciation for the nation’s journey and promote unity.

    The word //hapo means “dream” and comes from a Khoi proverb. The proverb teaches that a dream only becomes real when the entire community shares it. This idea drives the museum’s mission to tell a collective story spanning 3.6 billion years-from the Earth’s origins and ancestors, through resistance and colonisation, to nation building and continental unity.

    How to Book and Visit

    Learners and schools interested in visiting the //hapo Museum during the free-entry period can make group bookings. For more information or to arrange visits, contact Freedom Park directly via their official channels. The park is located at the corner of Koch and 7th Avenue, Salvokop, Pretoria.
