Kaizer Chiefs Eye More Transfer Activity as Striker Search Continues

Kaizer Chiefs Eye More Transfer Activity as Striker Search Continues
    Kaizer Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs are still actively searching for a striker to resolve their goal-scoring issues. With the transfer window closing at the end of the month, the club is working to strengthen their squad and boost their attacking options.

    Nabi Hints at Transfer Activity

Kaizer Chiefs’ head coach, Nasreddine Nabi, confirmed the club’s intentions to continue their search for a striker. Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, Nabi acknowledged that the club is looking to add more depth to their squad. While he did not directly confirm any names, he left open the possibility of bringing in Dzenan Zajmovic from TS Galaxy if the situation permits.

“I don’t want to comment on the striker from Galaxy,” Nabi said. “But if the opportunity arises, and especially if he has residency, then yes, we will look at him.”

The Belgian-born Bosnian forward is on Chiefs’ radar as the club aims to find a forward who brings something different to the squad.

    Zajmovic Denies Chiefs Contact

Despite the ongoing speculation, Zajmovic has firmly denied that he has been in contact with Kaizer Chiefs. He dismissed the rumours, clarifying, “I have seen people writing a lot of nonsense, but nothing like that has happened.” The 30-year-old, who has impressed at TS Galaxy, remains focused on his current club and has not entered into talks with Chiefs.

    Other Strikers Linked to Chiefs

Chiefs’ search for a goal-scorer doesn’t stop with Zajmovic. The club is reportedly considering several other strikers, including Peter Shalulile and Thembinkosi Lorch. Shalulile, though contracted with Mamelodi Sundowns until 2027, is believed to be exploring a move away from the club. Meanwhile, Lorch seems to be out of favour at Sundowns, fuelling further speculation about his potential move to Chiefs.

Additionally, Cape Town Spurs duo Asenele Velebayi and Luke Baartman are reportedly also on Chiefs’ radar. Both players have impressed with their performances, and their potential move could add much-needed firepower to the team.

The Pressure to Find a Consistent Goal-Scorer

With less than a month left in the transfer window, the pressure is mounting on Kaizer Chiefs to secure the striker who can rejuvenate their attack. Chiefs signed Flavio Silva earlier in the window, but the club is still on the lookout for a forward who can consistently find the back of the net.

For Chiefs, finding a reliable goal-scorer is no longer a luxury, it has become a necessity. The club’s ambition to return to the top of South African football hinges on strengthening their offensive options and ending their goal-scoring drought.
