    Are you an experienced radiographer in the field of radiation oncology? Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital is offering an exciting opportunity for a skilled Radiographer in Radiation Oncology to join their esteemed healthcare team.

    Key Requirements

    To qualify for the Radiographer in Radiation Oncology position at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, applicants must meet the following criteria:

    1. Educational Qualifications:
      • A Diploma or Degree that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Radiographer.
      • Registration with the HPCSA as an independent Radiographer in Radiation Oncology.
    2. Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:
      • A comprehensive understanding of radiotherapy standard techniques, including protocols, equipment, and accessories.
      • Knowledge of specialized techniques and quality assurance practices in radiotherapy.
      • A solid grasp of radiation effects and radiation protection protocols for patients.
      • Must be computer literate and able to handle administrative tasks effectively.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    As a Radiographer in Radiation Oncology, your responsibilities will include:

    1. Radiation Planning & Treatment:
      • Undertake basic radiation planning and treatment preparation.
      • Treat all patients according to departmental protocols, adhering to both local and international research.
      • Perform localization planning and accurately deliver radiation treatment to patients with neoplasms (cancer).
    2. Quality Assurance & Administrative Duties:
      • Conduct daily and weekly quality assurance checks on radiotherapy equipment and processes.
      • Perform necessary administrative duties in line with departmental standards and protocols.
    3. Patient Care:
      • Provide physical and emotional support to patients undergoing treatment.
      • Assist students during their clinical work to help them develop essential radiography skills.
    4. Academic & Research Participation:
      • Participate in academic activities, contributing to ongoing learning and knowledge exchange within the institution.
