Coastal and Marine Warnings
A Yellow Level 2 warning for damaging waves is in effect between Hondeklip Bay and Plettenberg Bay until Saturday afternoon. Small vessels are at risk of capsizing or taking on water, and navigation at sea will be difficult. Additionally, a Yellow Level 1 warning applies from Plettenberg Bay to Port Alfred, with damaging waves and winds expected to disrupt small harbours, ports, and beachfront activities.
Cold Front and Wet Weather in the Western and Northern Cape
Very cold, wet, and windy conditions will affect the southern parts of the Namakwa District (Northern Cape), the Witzenberg and Breede Valley municipalities, and the Koue Bokkeveld area (Western Cape). This cold front will bring scattered showers and rain along the south coast on Saturday, with lingering light drizzle on Sunday.
Showers and Thunderstorms in the East and Central Provinces
Scattered showers and isolated thundershowers are expected over parts of KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Limpopo, North West, and the Free State. Severe thunderstorms with damaging winds, hail, and heavy lightning are forecast particularly for eastern parts of KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape. Residents in these areas should remain vigilant and prepared for sudden weather changes.
Windy and Dry Conditions in the Interior
The central interior provinces will experience predominantly sunny and dry weather, but many areas will be windy on Sunday. Gauteng, Free State, and parts of the Northern Cape will see cool to warm temperatures with moderate to fresh winds.

- Eastern Cape: Cool temperatures ranging from 14°C to 19°C during the day and lows near 6°C to 9°C at night. Morning fog and isolated showers are common.
- Northern Cape: Southern districts experience cold, wet weather with highs of 15°C to 17°C and lows close to 2°C to 5°C. Northern parts remain dry and warmer, with daytime temperatures up to 22°C.
- Free State: Typical winter weather with daytime highs around 15°C to 17°C and cold mornings dropping to near freezing (0°C to 2°C). Mostly dry with some isolated showers possible.
- Mpumalanga, Limpopo, North West: Cool to mild winter weather with highs between 17°C and 20°C and lows ranging from 5°C to 8°C. Isolated showers and thundershowers may occur, especially in Mpumalanga and Limpopo.
