“They Told Me I Was Past My Prime” – Bradely Grobler

Bradley Grobler turned back the clock on Tuesday night, proving his doubters wrong as he fired Sekhukhune United to a stunning 3-1 victory over Kaizer Chiefs at the FNB Stadium.
The 37-year-old veteran scored twice and provided an assist in a performance that not only earned him the Man of the Match award but also sent Babina Noko to the top of the Betway Premiership standings.
Bradley Grobler’s Sweet Revenge
Speaking after the game, Grobler revealed that his goals carried extra meaning.
“It’s nice to score against a team who, six or seven years ago, told me I was finished and past my prime,” he said. “There’s nothing against Chiefs, but I must be honest, it feels nice to score against them.”
The experienced striker showed no signs of slowing down, ruthlessly punishing Chiefs’ defensive lapses. His brace silenced the Amakhosi faithful and reminded everyone why he remains one of the PSL’s deadliest forwards.
Record-Breaking Numbers
Grobler’s brace also added weight to his place in South African football history. According to stats shared after the game:
- He has now scored 123 goals in all competitions.
- Of those, 102 goals have come in the league.
- Against Chiefs alone, Grobler has found the net 12 times in all competitions.
These numbers underline his longevity and impact, placing him firmly among the league’s greatest scorers.
In fact, Grobler currently sits third on the PSL’s all-time top scorers list, only behind Peter Shalulile (130 goals) and Siyabonga Nomvethe (129 goals). That puts him above legends such as Daniel Mudau, Mabhuti Khenyeza, and Collins Mbesuma.
Sekhukhune Go Top
The result lifted Sekhukhune United to 16 points from six matches, placing them two points clear of Mamelodi Sundowns, who still have a game in hand against Marumo Gallants.
For Grobler, the victory was about more than points.
“Tonight was a big performance, one that’s probably going to make people take us more seriously,” he said. “We’d like to fight for the league title, and this was a big stepping stone, even though there’s still a long way to go.”
