    Central Johannesburg TVET College (CJC) is a public Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institution established as part of South Africa’s commitment to broaden vocational training. It provides accessible, practical education aiming to equip students with job-ready skills.     About Central Johannesburg TVET College

    • History and Establishment
      CJC was founded on 11 September 2003, when then-Minister Kader Asmal introduced the Further Education and Training (FET) sector at its Alexandra campus. The term FET later evolved to TVET under Minister Blade Nzimande.
    • Mission and Vision
      • Vision: To be a public TVET College of choice.
      • Mission: To lead students toward employment and entrepreneurship, contributing to economic development via responsive training and education.

      CJC offers nationally accredited programmes—NATED (Report 191) and NC(V)—quality assured by Umalusi. The college also partners with SETA bodies to deliver additional accredited skills programmes.

    Differences from NCV:

    • NATED (N4–N6) focuses on industry-aligned, modular technical training, often leading to a National N-Diploma upon completion and adequate workplace experience.
    • NCV is more oriented toward occupational readiness at lower levels (Levels 2–4) and often includes practical and theoretical components geared to immediate job placement or further study.

    Career-wise, NATED equips graduates for technician and supervisor roles in sectors like engineering, business, design, and hospitality.

    Standout programmes include Boiler Making, Cosmetology, Clothing Production, and Studio Work, among others. Skills developed range from mechanical fabrication (boiler making, mechanical engineering) to creative arts (music performance, art and design).     CJC comprises eight campuses, all within about 10 km of the central Parktown office:

    Parktown Campus

    • Location: 5 Ubla Avenue, Parktown (Central Office).
    • Programs: NATED courses like Financial Management, Human Resource Management, Marketing Management.
    • Facilities & Culture: Central hub offering administrative support, academic services, and student support—serves as the college’s nerve centre.

    Ellis Park Campus

    • Programs: Building & Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering (Light & Heavy), Mechanical Engineering.

    Alexandra Campus
