Mamelodi Sundowns seal Khulumani Ndamane signing

Mamelodi Sundowns have wrapped up the signing of Khulumani Ndamane from TS Galaxy, although the youngster will continue playing for the Rockets this season. According to a report by The Citizen, the two clubs finalised the agreement after weeks of negotiations.

The 21-year-old centre-back has been one of Galaxy’s most reliable players this campaign, featuring in all six competitive matches. His performances have not gone unnoticed, earning him a Bafana Bafana call-up where he came on against Lesotho in last week’s 3-0 victory at the Free State Stadium.

Why Ndamane stays at Galaxy

As part of the transfer agreement, Ndamane will spend the rest of the 2025 season at Galaxy before linking up with Sundowns. As reported both clubs agreed on the arrangement to ensure Galaxy were not left short in defence.

“It’s not that Sundowns think he isn’t ready, but Galaxy made it clear they still needed him. The deal is signed, and the announcement will follow soon,” the source explained.

A future star for Chloorkop

Ndamane’s capture is another example of Sundowns acting quickly to secure promising young talent before rivals step in. Despite his age, he has shown maturity and composure at the heart of Galaxy’s defence, qualities that convinced Sundowns to act.

For Galaxy, the loan extension is a win. They keep one of their key players for the season while also benefitting from his eventual move to one of the continent’s biggest clubs.

What this means for Sundowns

The signing underlines Sundowns’ intent to strengthen their squad depth for domestic and CAF competitions. With veteran defenders nearing the latter stages of their careers, bringing in a young, national team-calibre player signals smart long-term planning.

The Brazilians will keep a close eye on Ndamane’s development at Galaxy and with Bafana Bafana, knowing his experience this season will prepare him for the high expectations at Chloorkop.

The deal looks like a smart compromise: Sundowns secure their man, Galaxy retain their defensive rock, and Ndamane continues gaining valuable minutes. Fans, however, will have to wait until next season to see him in yellow.

Do you think Sundowns were right to leave Ndamane at Galaxy for another year, or should they have brought him in immediately?
