Nasreddine Nabi Confirms Exit From Kaizer Chiefs, Citing Family Reasons

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has officially broken his silence on his sudden exit from the Soweto giants. The 60-year-old Tunisian tactician clarified that his decision was motivated by family concerns rather than results on the pitch.
News of his departure came just days after Amakhosi’s first league defeat of the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season, a 3-1 home loss to Sekhukhune United. However, Nabi stressed the result was not behind his decision.
In a statement via his representatives, Mir Sports, it was confirmed that Nabi requested a mutual termination due to his wife’s health challenges after an accident earlier this year.
“I must prioritise my wife’s health”
Speaking to North African publication WinWin, Nabi explained his exit in his own words.
“My separation from Kaizer Chiefs was a mutual agreement with the club’s management, following a successful and challenging experience. Currently, I need some time to rest, focus more on my family, and monitor my wife’s health, which has required me to be by her side over the past period,” Nabi said.
The accident had already forced him to miss Chiefs’ opening three matches of the season. His return to Tunisia is seen as a decision rooted in family responsibility.
Interest from Etoile Sportive du Sahel
Since news of his departure broke, speculation has grown about Nabi’s next move. One of Tunisia’s biggest clubs, Etoile Sportive du Sahel, has reportedly made contact.
Nabi confirmed the approach but downplayed any immediate comeback:
“Indeed, several major African and Arab clubs have contacted me, but I will not enter into any negotiations at this time. My priority is to take a temporary break and get some rest. It’s true. There have been contacts from parties within the Etoile Sportive du Sahel management, and I appreciate this great club and its large fan base, but I don’t want to undertake a coaching experience in Tunisia at the moment.”
What this means for Kaizer Chiefs
Nabi’s exit leaves Kaizer Chiefs in another period of transition, less than two months into the new campaign. The club will now be forced to seek a replacement at a crucial stage of the season, with pressure mounting from supporters eager for success.
Amakhosi have endured several managerial changes in recent years, and this latest setback raises fresh questions about stability at Naturena.

Nabi’s departure is a reminder that football managers are not immune to personal struggles, and sometimes family must come first. Chiefs fans, however, will wonder what could have been under his leadership this season.
What do you think? Was Nabi the right man to take Kaizer Chiefs forward, or is this another chapter in the club’s search for consistency?
