Orlando Pirates Coach Hints at Fresh Faces Joining the Squad

Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has addressed growing speculation about possible late additions to his squad. The Premier Soccer League (PSL) transfer window deadline is on Monday, 22 September.

During the Buccaneers’ open media day at Rand Stadium earlier this week, two players – including Nigerian centre-back Collins Nwoburuoke from Abia Warriors – were seen training with the team. Their presence immediately fuelled talk that Pirates might still be in the market for reinforcements.

Orlando Pirates Active in the Market

When asked about potential new signings, Ouaddou chose his words carefully.

“Every big club, if there is an opportunity to strengthen the team, of course, we do it,” he said. “But for me as a coach, at the moment I am happy with what I have. The players here are competitive, ambitious, and capable of delivering.”

The Soweto giants have already been one of the most active teams in this transfer window. New arrivals such as Kamogelo Sebelebele, Sipho Mbule, and Oswin Appollis have quickly made their presence felt, impressing in their early outings for the club. Their impact has lifted confidence within the squad and among supporters.

Room for More?

Despite Ouaddou’s insistence that he is satisfied with his current roster, his non-committal response leaves the door open for possible last-minute deals. The appearance of trialists at training suggests that Pirates are still exploring options to bolster depth and competition.

With the transfer deadline fast approaching, it remains to be seen whether the Buccaneers will settle with the squad they have or spring a late surprise in the market. Either way, Ouaddou is confident in the ambition and quality of his current group as Pirates chase silverware this season.
