NSFAS Allowance Caps for University Students

- Accommodation: R65 993
- Books: R5 678
- Personal Care: R3 167

In contrast, students living in non-catered residences within metro areas will receive the following:
- Accommodation: R56 633
- Books: R5 678
- Personal Care: R3 167
- Living Allowance: R17 160
For students with disabilities, the NSFAS has allocated additional support, including R52 000 for human support and R54 080 for assistive devices, to ensure an inclusive learning environment.
The allowance caps for both catered and non-catered university residences within metro areas aim to cover essential living costs, including accommodation, books, and personal care needs. However, universities are reminded that any deviations from these caps must first receive written approval from NSFAS before they can implement higher allowances.
NSFAS Payment Schedule for Universities
