Orlando Pirates supporters breathed a sigh of relief on Friday as the club confirmed that rising star Relebohile Mofokeng’s recent absence from training is unlikely to keep him out for long. The 20-year-old forward, who was instrumental in Pirates’ narrow 1-0 win over Siwelele FC earlier this week, missed the team’s final preparation session ahead of Saturday’s CAF Champions League fixture against Lioli FC of Lesotho.

Coach Abdeslam Ouaddou gave a cautious update on Mofokeng’s status, saying:
“I need to speak with the medical team to see where he is. Rele is a key player for us, but we have to wait on their assessment. I can’t say more at this moment.”
Pirates Triumph Without Him
Despite his absence, Pirates comfortably dispatched Lioli 4-0, sealing a 7-0 aggregate victory. While fans may have been concerned about Mofokeng’s fitness, insiders have suggested that the youngster’s knock is minor and he should return to full training soon.
Key Fixture Ahead: TS Galaxy
The timing of his recovery is crucial, as Pirates prepare for a Betway Premiership clash against TS Galaxy on Tuesday. Mofokeng’s presence would give Ouaddou more attacking options. It will also allow the Buccaneers to rotate players as they juggle domestic and continental competitions.

With Pirates showing strong depth upfront, the club is well-positioned to manage without the exciting attacker in the short term, but his quick return could add an extra edge as the season progresses.
