If so, the Presidential Youth Employment Initiative (PYEI) – Basic Education Employment Initiative (BEEI) Phase V might be just what you’ve been waiting for!

Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!

The government has opened applications for SAYouth Teacher Assistant positions, which are designed to help young people gain practical experience in public schools. If you’ve been struggling to find a job, this is your chance to earn while you learn. The application window is open from 22 April to 09 May 2025, and with over 100,000 positions available, this could be the opportunity that changes your life.

In this article, we’ll walk you through everything you need to know about the Basic Education Employment Initiative, including the positions available, the application process, who is eligible, and how to apply.

What Is the Basic Education Employment Initiative (BEEI)?

The Basic Education Employment Initiative (BEEI) is a government programme that aims to address the high levels of unemployment among young people, particularly those who are under 35. Through this initiative, the government places unemployed youth in schools across the country, where they work as Teacher Assistants or in other educational support roles. The key benefit of these positions is that they provide young people with paid work, skills training, and experience in the education sector.

BEEI is part of the broader Presidential Youth Employment Initiative (PYEI), which is designed to provide meaningful work opportunities for young people to help them build careers and contribute to their communities.

    Benefits of Joining the PYEI:

    • A monthly stipend of R4 000 (after 1% UIF deduction)
    • R30 worth of data each month for online learning and communication
    • Hands-on work experience in the education sector
    • Training and development to enhance skills
    • The opportunity to make a difference in the lives of students and communities
