Spritz Into Summer — Kraal Style!

Gauteng welcomes summer with more than just sunshine—it’s about energy, colour, and connection. This year, Thaba Eco Hotel sets the tone with its Spritz Into Summer picnic at Kraal Gardens on 1 November 2025.

Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!

Groups of four to six will unpack golden baskets filled with seasonal treats, paired with an ice-cold Aperol Spritz. A live DJ brings the beats, while guests spread across the lawns, sip, dance, and toast to the new season. At R1,400 per basket, the experience blends exclusivity with accessibility.

“We wanted to capture the essence of summer—togetherness, vibrancy, and fun,” said a Thaba events planner. “It’s about creating memories that last long after the picnic.”

Thaba Eco Hotel doesn’t just acknowledge the arrival of summer—it redefines it. The venue has carved out a reputation as one of Gauteng’s seasonal hotspots, offering everything from lively picnics to year-end celebrations and cultural showcases.

At Kraal Restaurant, festive dining takes center stage. Families, companies, and groups can book special buffets and lunches, with live entertainment scheduled on select weekends in November and December. A breakfast buffet starts at R335 per person, while festive lunches begin at R650 per person.

Regular guests say the atmosphere goes far beyond a meal. “Rooms get snapped up quickly because it’s not just lunch—it’s a celebration of success and togetherness,” noted one visitor.

Corporate Team Building: Why Padel is Gauteng’s New Favourite

Summer at Thaba also brings sport into the mix. Through Thaba Eco Conferencing, corporates can now book padel sessions—an inclusive, fast-paced racket sport that has quickly become a global phenomenon.

Companies can bring groups of 4 to 24 players for an hour of coached matches. At R350 per person, teams not only break a sweat but also strengthen bonds in a setting that feels more like fun than work.

“Padel builds trust, sparks laughter, and brings out healthy competition,” said Thaba’s conferencing team. “It creates connections in ways old-school team-building activities never did.”

Organisers can also pair padel with eco-park hikes or tailor it into larger conference packages, making the sport a versatile and memorable option.

Johannesburg’s Hospitality Hotspot: Luxury Meets Nature

Beyond picnics and padel, Thaba Eco Hotel continues to attract global attention. With Johannesburg preparing to host the G20 Summit, Thaba has positioned itself as a destination for both leisure and business travellers.

Located minutes from the city centre yet tucked inside a private eco-reserve, the hotel combines luxury hospitality with sustainability. Guests enjoy:

    • Eco-friendly suites with panoramic reserve views
    • Curated dining at Kraal Restaurant
    • Customised conference spaces
    • Guided trails, wildlife encounters, and nature-inspired experiences

“Visitors want more than a bed—they want meaning, connection, and sustainability,” explained travel analyst Thandi Mokoena. “Thaba Eco Hotel delivers all three while putting Gauteng on the global tourism map.”

    The Bigger Picture

Experts say that hotels like Thaba drive Gauteng’s tourism economy. They bring in investment, generate jobs, and showcase authentic South African experiences. The addition of eco-friendly practices, from solar energy to green conferencing, positions Gauteng as a province that celebrates growth responsibly.

“Thaba Eco Hotel doesn’t just serve guests—it uplifts the community, from jobs to sustainable business opportunities,” said one hospitality expert.

A Call to Action: Celebrate Summer, Support Local

Summer 2025 offers Gauteng residents and visitors a unique invitation. Whether you’re enjoying a Spritz Into Summer picnic on 1 November, booking a festive lunch, rallying your colleagues on the padel courts, or welcoming global guests during the G20 Summit, Thaba Eco Hotel brings people together.

Book early, spread the word, and invest in experiences that showcase Gauteng at its best.

Thaba Eco Hotel is more than a venue—it’s where Gauteng gathers to celebrate, connect, and create lasting memories.
