Studying at university can be very expensive, and many South African students struggle to afford tuition, accommodation, and other costs. To help, Tronox is offering the Tronox Bursary 2026, which provides full financial support to deserving students in engineering, mining, and science-related fields. Applications are now open, and the closing date is 26 September 2025.

Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!

    What is the Tronox Bursary?

The Tronox Bursary is a financial aid programme offered by Tronox Holdings plc, a company that mines and processes titanium ore and produces titanium dioxide pigment. Tronox operates in several countries, including South Africa, where it plays a major role in the mining and mineral processing industry.

This bursary programme is designed to support talented and hardworking students who want to pursue higher education but need financial assistance. By investing in students, Tronox also invests in the future workforce of the mining, chemical, and engineering sectors in South Africa.

Fields of Study Covered by the Tronox Bursary

Tronox focuses on fields that are directly linked to their industry. If you want to study in one of the following areas, you can apply for the bursary:

    • Engineering
      • Chemical Engineering
      • Electrical Engineering
      • Mechanical Engineering
      • Mining Engineering
      • Process Control Engineering

      • Environmental Science
      • Extraction Metallurgy
      • Geology
      • Mine Survey
    • Other Related Fields
(Tronox has left space for other relevant studies linked to their work)

These courses prepare students for careers in mining, minerals processing, energy management, and environmental sustainability.

What Does the Tronox Bursary Cover?

One of the most attractive parts of the Tronox Bursary 2026 is that it offers comprehensive financial support. If you are selected, the bursary will cover almost all the costs of being a student. This includes:

    • Registration fees
    • Tuition fees (full academic costs)
    • Accommodation (university residence or private accommodation)
    • Meals
    • Living allowance (for daily expenses)
    • Book allowance (to buy prescribed textbooks and study materials)
    • Once-off laptop allowance (to ensure students can study effectively)

This means that if you qualify for the Tronox Bursary, you can focus on your studies without worrying about how you will pay for your education.
